Introduction

Adelaide River is a small town in the north of the Northern Territory, about 100km by car from Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory.

Adelaide River is located on the river of the same name, the town is very small, resident population of less than 500 people. This beautiful town has a moving and rich history. After the gold rush of 1892, it became a special resting place for gold miners, and by the time of World War II, it had become an important military center. Many of the soldiers who died in World War II were buried in the graveyard, and the railway bridges and railway stations in the past are now worth visiting museums.

The river is home to buffalo, stork and many other wildlife, and visitors can board crocodiles to watch the giant saltwater crocodile jump out of the water to compete for food.

Adelaide River borders the famous Lichfield National Park (Litchfield National Park) in the west, but it takes a detour north to Litchfield Park Rd and a 100km drive from Adelaide River to the tourist center in the west of the National Park.
